The Classes
There are 3 sessions per day: In the morning, we’ll focus on Rhythm. After lunch, it’s all about Soloing. And then it’s time for individual classes.
Both guitar and violin classes will also focus on mastering improvisational skills, developing your own voice, and playing without a score.
Every time is a good time to jam! Save some energy for the main Jam Session after dinner.
All instruments are welcome. Both Nuno Marinho (guitar) and Marian Yanchyk (violin) will tailor each student’s learning experience to your background, instrument, and needs.
When & Where?
The 2026 Django Portugal Camp takes place in the idyllic Vila Viçosa, the vacation village of our Kings. Book your vacation now: from April 29th to May 3rd for an intense Gypsy Jazz experience.
There’s a pool, a basketball court, bikes, a huge olive tree camp, and plenty of space for jogging and other outdoor activities.
The village, castle, and palace are located in the center of the town and are a 4-minute drive. A huge quarry is also a must-visit. And every night after turning off all the lights, you will see the most amazing view of the Milky Way.
Meals & Accomodation
The camp provides all meals and accommodation.
There are four private suites equipped with queen-size beds (suitable for couples) and hydromassage shower jets.
There are 3 small private rooms for individual students.
And there are 3 more rooms to be shared either with an extra fellow student or your spouse.
Camping fans are welcome to come with their caravans or tents.
TEACHERS
MARIAN YANCHYK (Violin)
Marian Yanchyk was born into a family of artists in Lviv, Ukraine. He began learning both violin and piano at six years of age, and immediately revealed his natural talent for music.
The virtuoso violinist is regularly featured in recordings and shows by diverse and eclectic bands of many musical genres, such as Eastern European and Latin American Folk, Hip-Hop, fado, Flamenco, Oriental Music, Pop, and Rock.
Marian is traveling all over Europe playing his music (including Bulgaria, Armenia, and Wales), and also Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, and Angola. In Portugal, he is the #1 Jazz Manouche and Eastern European Folk musician.
NUNO MARINHO (Guitar)
Nuno Marinho was already an acknowledged Jazz and Music teacher when he decided to dedicate his life to Gypsy Jazz and the Music of Django Reinhardt. As a performer, he traveled the world playing in Europe, Brazil, Argentina, Angola, India, and the USA.
As a teacher, Nuno has been invited to be part of, none other than, the two biggest and most prestigious Gypsy Jazz Camps in the world: Django in June (Boston, USA), and The Grappelli & Django Camp (Eindhoven, The Netherlands).
Author of instructional Gypsy Jazz books and videos, interviews, and album reviews, Nuno is the leading Manouche musician in Portugal, and one of the most acknowledged pedagogues of the genre in the world.
